The N.E.W.C. will be holding this years championships in N.Y. State, on Oneida Lake.

With one week to go before the start of the 2010 Championships, anglers are excited about the location for this years event. The N.E.W.C. has run an event at this body of water for the last 5 years, but this will mark the first Championship we have brought there.

Teams will start pre fishing this weekend in hopes of claiming the 2010 championship title.

This years event has added a couple interesting incentives for anglers competing. The winner of the event (if eligible) will receive a invitation to next years Cabelas NTC. In addition to this, the N.E.W.C. has added $$$ to the overall pay outs .

The N.E.W.C. has always listened to their anglers, and one concern has been the amount of cash paid out at the Championships. In the past we have always paid out a minimum of 90%, but this years event will be well over 100%.

The N.E.W.C. is proud to announce we are adding $2,000.00 to the overall pay outs for this years Championships.

In addition to the overall payouts, with 20 teams we will pay down 5 places each day, with 5th place receiving $380.00 (price of entire entry fee) each day. Their is also a big fish purse each day included in the price of entry fee, and with 20 teams will pay $ 400.00 each day.

This Championship is an open event. Any one wishing to compete may do so.

Entry Fee for this event is $380.00 dollars. You may sign up the evening before, or the morning of the event at the boat ramp at Oneida Shores.

Tournament hours are 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.

Any questions please e-mail me at tgmeans@earthlink.net, or call my home phone at (814) 362-1423, or cell phone this weekend and next Friday threw event at (814) 331-3112.

We will also be discussing changes to next years format at this event. Any one wishing to have input into changes made for next year need to be participating in this event.

I will be at Oneida lake this weekend finalizing were we will hold our weigh ins, as well as rules meeting. Stay tuned for more details next week.

Great job again Tom and company.

You guys are amazing in the amount of work, time, and effort you put in for this tournament. My kids look forward to it all year long. We come up and camp at Willow Bay and fish the weekend. Still looking for their first fish catagory win but they can't wait for the prizes.......and cookies and brownies.

My daughter won the T.V this year and you'll be happy to know it wasn't taken over by her parents......it sits on top of her dresser! She watches Animal Planet, Dicovery Channel, and AFV(Americas Funnies Videos) on it when shes not outside playing. She still grins when I tease her that I still can't believe she won!

P.S.- You could make a lot of money with any drought striken farmers in the area! Those rain clouds sure seem to find you! LOL. My kids were totally unaffected by the rain and had a great time!

Thanks again, Chris

This past weekend the Kinzua Outdoors - Northern Tier Inc Walleye Circuit concluded the 2010 season. In a big way this years top team not only triumphed over the rest of the teams, but they defeated one of the toughest bodies of water to be consistent on, the mighty Kinzua Reservoir.

Besting a field of very tuff and seasoned veteran anglers was the team of DeWayne Cawley - Steve Colley both from Bradford, Pa. This team dominated from start to finish this year picking up where they left off last year at the season ending event by taking first place, and never looked back.

DeWayne and Steve accomplished something this year that no other team was able to do, and proved just how important having 5 in the box every day is on the Kinzua Reservoir. Placing in every event this year starting with a win in the first event, a 4th place finish (their worst) in the second event, a 2nd place finish along with big fish honors in the third event, and finishing strong with a 3rd place finish in the last event, DeWayne and Steve not only place in the top at each event, but they are also the only team to bring in their 5 fish limit each day.

Starting the fourth tournament, DeWayne and Steve were extremely relaxed. The team had found out that in fact they didn't need to catch a fish for the fact they had already wrapped up the Team of the year title, no matter what any team did, no one could catch them.

I have fished for years with these guys and I am proud to have these two anglers represent us. No other team worked harder this year, and they are always true sportsman, quiet and humble, great job guys - you deserve it.

In a close battle for the Runner-up Team of the year, saw  several teams within distance of winning this award. Coming from 7th place the Team of Chuck Sabatose & John Pendleton ( last years T.O.Y. ) rose to the challenge, finishing out a great season where they placed in the top 3 out of 4 events.

Just behind, finishing third overall in a close battle was the tuff team of Rob & Mike Kemick who finished up the season very strong.

With a outstanding performance in the last two events coming from way down in the field and finishing up 4th overall was the team of Al Lockwood & Frank Reilly, great job.

Rounding out the top 5 are two teams tied. Mike Maholic & Brock Haven along with Cubby & Tracy Stewart both brought their A-game this past weekend exciting the crowed.

Kinzua Outdoors- Northern Teir Inc Championship Results

This past weekend Kinzua Outdoors - Northern Teir Inc held their 8th Annual Walleye Championships on the Kinzua Reservoir. Anglers faced many challenges over the two days with ever changing weather conditions, a really tuff bite do to an abundance of bait fish, and falling water levels adding to the mix, this event was sure to make the cream rise to the top while testing all the skills of these worthy teams.

On Saturday, basket after basket of 1 fish came to the scales, but at the end of the first day we had two teams with over 8 pound baskets heading into the second day. Sunday morning teams were anxious to get started with several teams shooting for over all awards for the season, as well as a fresh start for the second day of the championships, which is also a single day tournament for points and payouts. The weather forecast looked to be good all day, but in her usual fashion, mother nature showed up once again, producing light to heavy rains in the afternoon.

Teams started arriving to weigh in, and it appeared that teams did a swap from the day before with teams weighing better baskets than they did on Saturday. At the end of weigh ins it was clear who had made the right changes with the team of Don & Seth Hicks weighing a nice basket of eyes weighing 10.56 pounds. Rumors floated around of another team having a big fish, but after weighing the fish, the team of Chuck Sabatose & John Pendleton came up short weighing 8.61 pounds, along with the second biggest fish of the day.

Top Ten, Day 2
1. Don & Seth Hicks - 5 fish - 10.56 pounds
2. Chuck Sabatose & John Pendleton - 5 fish - 8.61 pounds
