20  General Category / General Discussion / Re: New Reservation rules - the facts on: May 05, 2009, 05:36:50 AM
Thanx Tom, for the skinny on this.  You mention they want to help make this a premier fishery- does that mean they are going to help stock walleye  fry/fingerlings?  Reducing the possession limit is a start, but the population needs a "boost" and not ONLY from PFBC who have been footing the entire stocking bill all along.  If they (SNI) are sincere on helping turn this around- it sure would help, as Pa is the only entity to do anything with the lake.  NY has so little property in it, they don't help, SNI has a rather huge interest but has never supported in any fashion.

I agree with ya.  Usually, Willow docks are'nt in til mid-May at earliest, but this year, incredibally, they were in for walleye season opener!!!!  It sure sucks launching a boat w/out docks!!!!

26  General Category / General Discussion / Re: Deer Herd Management on: September 17, 2008, 09:28:23 AM
The herd needed REDUCED- not decimated!!!!  In 2F, it's way past time to shut doe season down for awhile to build things back up.  It is surely disheartening to hunt all day everyday, and only see a handful of deer.  This is a turnoff to adults- imagine what it's doing to the young/newbie hunters to not see anything.  JK- you say you're upset with what you're seeing: it's what we're NOT seeing that upsets me!!!!  It was good to thin out the herd, the deer are healthier and bigger (body wise) now, but things have gone on too long, and with a losing interest by many because of lack of deer, PGC is surely shooting themselves in the foot on this one.  They were on the right tract at first, but let it (or wanted it to) get out of hand.  Instead of listening to the field team (hunters) who are actually out there, they are relying on statistics, which can be bent and twisted anyway you want to fit the program.  Old saying "there is no difference in statistics and lies" is so very true.

Tom, Would love to participate, but unfortunately, I'm committed to attending a wedding out of town for this weekend.  Good luck with it- hope you get the boats you want!!!!!  Darn these things that come up and interfere with my fishing!!!!

Very sound advice Forrest.  You red-line that engine (especially new), and you're gonna need a tow, and a loan for repairs/replacement.  With no resistance on that prop, you're gonna redline her and blow the top end (Connecting rods, crankshaft, wrist pins, cam, timing gears, valves, ect, ect) off that new baby.   And there's another aspect to consider: the dangers of "spearing" an oncoming wave if your timing is off.  From experience, your ribs will be sore for a couple weeks if you do this.  It's like hitting a brick wall.  In other words, BE CAREFUL COWBOY!!!!!   We want you to be around for awhile.
